The Moroccan House of Councilors, represented by Abdel-Karim Al-Whisper of the Authenticity and Modernity team, participated in a mission to monitor the US presidential elections in which outgoing President Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Joe Biden are running.
In a statement to MAP, the whisper said this monitoring mission, which took place between October 31 and November 4, is affiliated to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, in which the Council of Advisors is a partner for cooperation.
The Moroccan parliamentarian explained that “in view of the distinguished cooperation relations and mutual trust between the two institutions, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly chose the Council of Advisors to represent it, along with a group of European member states, in its mission to monitor the voting process in the United States of America, noting that the Kingdom of Morocco It is the only Arab and African country that takes part in this mission.
Thus, the Whisper was assigned to monitor the conduct of the electoral process in a number of voting offices in Washington, DC, and the neighboring states of Virginia and Maryland, as it would assess the extent of this process in accordance with international democratic standards and specifications.
In this regard, the Moroccan parliamentarian will present, after the end of the mission's work, a detailed report on the progress of this process, which was marked this year by resorting to mail voting due to the epidemiological situation associated with the Covid-19 pandemic.
